Cornish haulier invests in eight more Arocs tippers

A hurried purchase of an Arocs tipper at the start of the year has paid dividends for Cornish operator Duchy Plant Hire, which has now ordered another eight of the Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

Two have recently been put into service and another six will be delivered by Intercounty Truck & Van early in the new year.

“That Arocs never gets stuck and is the most reliable truck on the fleet,” said Duchy MD Jamie Shelton (pictured).

“It’s every bit as capable as our Swedish-built trucks, yet they cost us upwards of £40,000 more. All we’ve had to do with our first Mercedes-Benz over the last couple of years is replace wear items.”

The aggregates and earth moving firm bought the original pre-built 3240 variant Arocs after spotting it for sale on a social media page.

The eight vehicles it has since ordered are all Arocs 3251s.

“The drivers have been blown away too, by their smooth power delivery and comfort,” added Shelton.

“One has been in Swedish trucks all his working life but reckons the Arocs is the best he’s ever driven.”
