Driver three times over legal drink drive limit closes North Yorkshire A-road

The driver of this HGV was banned from the roads in just over 24 hours after he lost control of his vehicle and closed a road in North Yorkshire.

Polish trucker Jacek Borowski lost control of the artic while heading downhill on the A59 at Blubberhouses on Tuesday (18 April).

According to North Yorkshire police, the road was closed for most of the day and caused significant disruption in the area.

Fortunately, no one else was involved or injured.

Police breathalysed the 51-year-old driver and he recorded 92 micrograms of alcohol in 100 milligrams of breath – almost three times the legal limit.

He was remanded into custody and appeared before York Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 19 April where he pleaded guilty to driving over the limit and was disqualified from driving for 23 months.
